Back to life
What's knocking about at the bottom of your jewellery box? Have you forgotten about some heirloom diamonds that were never quite your style? Or are there some broken pieces that you've never got round to fixing? I appear to have, among other things, quite a collection of pearls which had completely slipped my mind! Well, maybe they could be brought back to life and given a chance to get out and about again.
Here are a few recent commissions which involved breathing new life into some family hand-me-downs and pieces with sentimental value.
Nicola's diamonds
This unworn pin was in definite need of some re-invigoration.
Here I was able to use the diamonds and the pin itself to create some more modern and wearable pieces.
A chunky ring for her son using a single diamond.
Earrings for Nicola and her daughter - the pin was melted into one of the gold studs.
Emma's opal
This opal ring had a beautiful stone but the ring itself was very thin and worn.
I removed the stone and had it polished and the metal was melted down and reshaped into a new setting
I love mixed metals as it looks really fresh and modern - plus it's a great way to incorporate a little gold into a piece of jewellery without a hefty price-tag.
Look at that delicious opal!
Ruth's heirloom wedding band
This unworn wedding band was used to make a stunning setting for this peridot.
The metal was melted down and reshaped into the new setting.
Green and gold is just a match made in heaven isn't it?!
Cait's lucky off-cut!
After resizing Cait's husband's wedding ring there was the perfect amount for me to make her a pair of Diamond Dot earrings. I just love the idea of her being able to wear a part of such a meaningful piece of jewellery.
Go have a look and see if you've got any forgotten jewels...and get in touch any time if you'd like to discuss a commission of your own. You can read more about the commission process in my blog post here or on the bespoke page here.
